UnravelSpin

I have tried to use unravelling as a valid option for textile recycling. I explored the different opportunities that arise when unravelling knitted garments. This project’s focus became the discovery of spinning yarn directly from a garment. I turned this into a service where people can have their old T-shirts turned into personalized yarn. The main contribution in this project is in seeing the material value in a world where we spill resources, as well as looking into the story of a deeper personal connection that we have with the material that covers and protects our bodies every day.

My main development is in applying my vision on sustainability, in combination with a maker approach, which led to an actual discovery. My visual language and communication developed as the project continued. I also learned about the value of involving experts, especially when doing an individual project.
